It’s common wisdom among motorcyclists that when the temperatures drop the hands—always, the hands—are the first thing to go. But with the right gear, the ride doesn’t have to end.
The first weekend in October marked the 6th annual Wheels in the Field rally hosted by Max BMW. Here’s our event recap in three parts: 1) A video compilation taken from behind the handlebars of a 1983 BMW; 2) A ride recap with an action photo gallery; and 3) a Gear roundup cataloging equipment used on the trip, like the new Arai XD-5 helmet and Alpinestars Bogota Pro jacket.
This gorgeous green and white 2020 Triumph Scrambler 1200 XE has been on display all season at the showroom, where we’ve outfitted it out with a rotating cast of racks and accessories from UNIT Garage. Now the bike itself is being offered for sale.
An eighth of an inch doesn’t seem like a whole lot, but in the case of Doubletake’s modular mirror system, the increase in the diameter of the mirror mount ball perch going from from 1-inch to 1.125 makes for a very effective upgrade. Add to the mix a newly designed cast aluminum connecting arm, and a full universal hardware assortment included with every kit, and the best modular mirror system on the market just got a good bit better.
2024 marked Belstaff's 100th anniversary, and to celebrate the brand overhauled its entire motorcycle collection. We’ve added six of these newly revamped jackets to our shelves. Each one comes with an improved abrasion rating and the whole collection is rife with new features, like vents for warm weather, a snap-in thermal vest for cooler weather, and style for miles.
Two notable new premium helmets just came onto the U.S. market this season — both supercharged with features, hand-laid fiberglass shells, fastidious paintwork, and all the right safety certs. And on the whole, they represent decades of iterative improvements from their respective Japanese manufacturers: Arai and Shoei.
We’re excited to add Peak Design phone cases, motorcycle mounts, and supporting cast of smart mobile accessories to the Union Garage catalog. Why so stoked? The short story is we decisively believe this is the best motorcycle phone mount system available to date.
First the big news: we’ve traded our old digs at 101 Union Street in Brooklyn for a 102-year-old former factory building in downtown Bridgeport, Connecticut.
*Apologies if that statement made you spit-take a drink onto your screen.
Hi. In case we haven’t met before, I’m Chris Lesser, the owner of Union Garage. And today I have some very big news to share: After nearly 10 glorious years of hawking Quality Motorcycle Gear on Union Street in Brooklyn, Union Garage is moving.
Hippo Hands is the maker of the original motorcycle hand cover. With roots going back to the 1970’s, when founder Craig Vetter (of fairing fame) first duck-taped his sleeping bag around his handlebars during a particularly frigid ride.
Thoroughly modernized, the new lineup of Hippo Hands fits a wide range of motorcycles and riding styles, and we’ve just added the whole Hippo family to our shelves.
We’re running a flash fundraiser for the Bowery Mission, which for over a century has been helping to house and feed New Yorkers in need – and right now there are an estimated 80,000 men, women and children who are homeless and hungry in NYC.
