Slide these form-fit armored leggings under a pair of standard denim jeans, slacks, even a tuxedo—and voila: instant protection upgrade.
Bowtex has been making armored Kevlar leggings since 2015 and this is the culmination of the Brussels-based company’s efforts.
After releasing this product as an “A” rated, good for at least 25mph of abrasion resistance, the product was later awarded AA certification, meaning it’s good for at least 45mph.
Both knee and hip armor come included to be in place, both of which are Sas-Tec Tripleflex Level 2, which we stock and highly recommend.
Elastic stirrups build into the hem of each leg help keep these legging in place even under adverse conditions.
Given the nature of the woven Kevlar—plus the fact they look like yellow pajamas—we don’t necessarily recommend riding in these leggings alone. But with pretty much any shell worn over top, they’re 100% ready for action.
Conceivably one could even wear a single-layer AAA-rated motorcycle jean (such as the Knox Shield, or the Spidi Dyneema Evo) over top of these, and theoretically achieve “AAAAA” protection.
Side benefit for cooler weather riding: Kevlar acts as an insulator.
For summertime riding, consider the Bowtex Standard R pants, which can act either as an underlayer legging like this one, or can also work as a standalone moto pant, as they have a Kevlar product with a stiffer skin to it than the terry-cloth like yellow DuPont Kevlar.
- All Bowtex products are 100 percent made in Europe
- Sas-Tec Knee armor and Sas-Tec Hip armor is now included
- Stretch fit – riders are recommended to size down for best results
