Unlike a traditional Kevlar legging—a category that Bowtex has been working at since 2015—these Standard R Pants have a much stiffer black Kevlar material combination at key abrasion zones than the yellow terry-cloth-like material that many companies use to line riding jeans with.
The upside of a traditional yellow terry Kevlar legging is that it’s warmer in the cooler months when worn as an underlayer.
The disadvantages are that the yellow Kevlar is it will easily get snagged on abrasive surfaces like asphalt, and isn’t recommended to be worn without an overlayer.
Enter the Standard R, which is thin enough to wear as a legging, but sturdy enough to wear on its own in hot weather. The pant’s combination of stretch panels and stiff Kevlar let it ventilate exceedingly well.
Just like the matching Bowtex Standard R shirt, and the Bowtex Essential Kevlar Leggings, this product is made in Portugal with materials consciously sourced from Germany, The Netherlands, and Belgium.
