At first we were happy to stick with the standard Rok Strap brand Heavy Duty (18-60”) option, but the UNIT Garage treatment has won us over.
The composition is about the same — 1-inch (2.5cm) Nylon webbing strap, adjustable from about 20 to 57 inches (50-144cm), with a sturdy elastic band section for some extra “give,” and a quick-release buckle that, altogether is rated for a little more than 100 pounds (50kg).
The details that push this over the top are how the ends of the Nylon loops are pinched and top-stitched, giving them more structure and making it easier to push them through slots in, say, a UNIT Garage top plate, or any other place you find yourself needing to thread a universal strap.
And our only real gripe with Rok Straps are that the user is left to deal with the surplus length of webbing after a load is secured. Thoughtfully, UNIT incorporates a velcro strap tether at the end to manage the extra webbing and keep things tight and tidy...and keep the extra length of strap from getting into trouble.
Extra box stitching helps inspire confidence in the strength of these humble but mighty little helpers.
Use them to help further secure Khali bags to their ATLAS backing plates, or to strap down any ad hoc load to the back seat or rear rack.
