This Dyneema “Evo” model adds extra protection over its AA-rated predecessor, and comes with a best-in-class AAA rating, meaning that the material will withstand a 75MPH slide in simulated lab conditions.

The Secret Sauce //

The Spidie Dyneema Evo jeans namesake is the Dyneema material they're cut from. Dyneema is a name brand for general technology known as Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene. Or UHWMPE for short. It's a mouthful, but one of the best materical technologies available.

The Dyneema yarn is used in both the warm and the weft of these jeans, and is made up of 25% PE (Polyethylene = Dyneema), in combination with polymide (5%) Elastane, 2(%), and the 68 percent material composition balance is pure natural cotton.

All that whiz-bang textile engineering, and net/net these feel like a traditional, if somewhat heavy duty denim—in a good way.

Fit & Finish //

Besides the all-important protective upgrades, this new jean also sees some thoughtful updates and updates that make them even more comfortable and easy to wear.

Kudos to Spidi tailors for figuring out a way to incorporate a functional crotch gusset without ruining the look of the jeans.

In another minor but appreciated tweak, the rear patch pockets of these jeans are lower-slung than normal, so you don't sit on your phone while riding.

The previous model of these jeans were also single-layer, but came with a mesh liner throughout the entire garment to hold  the armor in place. They performed fine, but the construction prevented them from feeling like regular everyday jeans. And even though they technically had  a higher Dyneema rating, with a full 60% Dyneema content, ;the inside felt a bit plastic-y.

Instead with this EVO model, Spidi has managed to make a more protective (AAA) product that feels even better than before. Win, win.

The new Evo model does away with the old model's full mesh liner, and only features mesh material at the hips and knees, to help hold the armor in place. And the armor in this case is among the best we’ve seen—ergonomic and flexible Level 2 Spidi  armor at the knees, and Level 1 at the hips.

Notably, there's Velcro at the knees for adjustability, so regardless of your relative femur length, you can dial in the perfect fit.

Which should be noted: you want these to ride a little low while off the bike, with the flection of sitting on the bike bringing them up into the perfect position to cover the kneecaps.

Because relative peg positions are different, and people's relative anatomical proportions are different, this adjustability  is key.

Seeing is Believing //

The running joke at the shop was that once people try these jeans on in-store, they just get it. Yes, they're expensive. Even more now with tariff and currency conversion challenges.

But insurance deductibles are expensive, too. And these jeans more than any other AAA rated jeans on the market, are going to help keep the skin on your ass in the event you slide off your motorcycle at speed.

These improved AAA-rated jeans fit fairly true to size, and the lengths have been graded. If you take a long leg, contact us for other options. If you take a short leg, plan to get the jeans hemmed—the adjustable armor helps in this regard.

For at-home try-on, feel free to order a couple of pairs if you’re between sizes. And most importantly, see the size chart, where we measured production jeans directly, so you can measure your own best-fitting jeans at home and make the right choice the first time.

TLDR //

  • Straight/Slim cut works with a variety of boots
  • Single-layer Dyneema AAA construction - rated for 75mph*
  • Level 1 hip and Level 2 knee armor included
  • True single layer protection
  • Reflective turn-up at the cuff

*Note the 75mph estimate is a lab test equivalent set forth by the CE standard. Every motorcycle crash is different, and nobody can ultimately claim any certainty in something as chaotic as a motorcycle crash. That said, this product is our staff pick for Riding Jeans.
