One of the taller of the John Doe boots we carry, the Daytona is ready for action with a sturdy welted sole and plentifully thick oiled leather.
Built like the proverbial brick shithouse, the Daytona is lined with John Doe’s XTM Fiber, a blend of Kevlar and Cordura that would take a missile to break through.
And so your foot doesn’t break inside the boot, it’s thoughtfully reinforced at the toe box, heel cup, and with exterior ankle protection.
The interior of the boot sports a YKK zipper for easy ingress and egress, and a sturdy lugged (and replaceable) sole provides plenty for grip, whether descending slippery stairs or moving a heavy motorcycle through a gravel lot.
What this boot is not is waterproof—and we maintain that can be a good thing, because if you’re mostly a fair weather rider, having a waterproof boot on all the time can be a drag. The Daytona is highly water resistant, with its oiled finish and tongue gusset.
But it trades absolute motorcycle-grade waterproofness for breathability, and as long as you’re okay with that, not sweating through your socks can be a beautiful thing.
The details on the Daytona collectively add up to a premium package at a not-premium price: note the quality eyelets, laces, and a even the tooled details patch on top of the toe provides extra grip when reaching for those upshifts.
The sole is oil-resistant and shock absorbing too, making it feel just at home on the bike as it does out on the town, worn as a casual everyday urban boot.
All John Doe products are manufactured in Europe, and its leather boots specifically are all handmade in Portugal.
