Do they come with touch tips, for convenience with the phone; or palm sliders, for extra protection should you go body surfing? Nope and Nope.
But damnit, they fit really well.
And in terms of ventilation, they work well as any warm weather riding glove we’ve seen.
Style is subjective, but we think they look great in all three color choices.
There is some brawn to match the sparse beauty of the Aether Summer Moto gloves—like D3O knuckle armor that sits atop a pillowy foam panel, making for a super comfortable fit. And the quilted overlay of leather at the palm is a nice touch, too.
We never claim any glove will fit perfect — there’s too much variation in palm size and finger proportion for that. We’re used to seeing, and living with, some slightly long ring fingers and pinkeyes—the non essentials—and as long as the thumb and forefinger/middle finger have a good fit, you’ll have as much dexterity as you’ll need on a motorcycle.
That said, these Aether gloves seem to fit more hands as well or better than any others.
The goatskin will eventually cup and mold to the wearers’ hand as they break in, and like deerskin, goatskin is extremely supple and more abrasion resistant, ounce-for-ounce, than traditional cowhide.
The Aether Summer Moto gloves come in three good-looking solid color options—a classic tan, a smoke gray, and jet black. With only a light, subtle log on the strap, they’re fairly traditional looking and low-key.
While there’s nothing earth-shattering about the Aether Summer Moto gloves, in a sea of over branded gloves made by European companies, they stand out for their restraint—no big branding, accent panels, or screen-printed feature call-outs, because seriously, why do waterproof gloves have to say “waterproof” on them?
Like the majority of those European gloves, these are made in Vietnam, which is the way of the world these days, and we would say better than Pakistan.
And obviously if you’re looking for a Deerskin US made option, with D3O armor and touch-tips, check out our own Union Brand D3 Moto Glove, made for us by Lee Parks Design.
Or collect them all. Like socks, the more glove you have in the rotation, the longer they’ll all last.
