The ATLAS Canvas Panniers are built onto UNIT Garage Locking Luggage Plates, and are offered in two configurations—for a flat-profile rack, or for an offset, exhaust-side profile rack.
That means you can slap these traditional looking saddlebags on almost any modern bike equipped with a heavy-duty luggage rack. But unlike traditional saddlebags, these install and remove in a snap, thanks to a stainless steel latch built into the mounting plate that will match any UNIT Garage ATLAS series racks, and many OEM and aftermarket options.
Aesthetically, these bags are the antithesis of the plastic stock BMW Vario series bags. They’re available in three different waxed canvas colors, and all are made in Italy with undeniable attention to detail with the thick leather and laser-straight stitching.
Like their lighter-duty Klickfix counterparts, these bags are made from heavy duty waxed canvas reinforced with 3mm leather trim. Unlike some other waxed canvas bags we’ve seen, these are plentifully thick, and will stand up on their own.
For security, these bags come with stainless steel latches and can be locked onto the rack. Furthermore, each once comes with leather-clad steel batons built into the roll-top, with a slot and a bracket that can be secured with a padlock.
The bags’ roll-top design offers traditional waterproofing, but for 100% waterproofing on longer tours, we highly recommend getting waterproof stuff sacks to go inside—like a universal option(s) from Sea to Summit, or a UNIT Garage dry bag, offered in small, lightweight configuration, or a larger, heavy-duty setup.
In addition to this traditional canvas rendition, UNIT also makes an excellent welded TPU Khali version, which offers 100% waterproof performance.
