This jacket is the 3rd edition of the Tornado line from REVIT, our favorite Dutch adventure apparel company, and 3rd time is proving to be the charm. The basic outline remains the same—a rugged 3-season shell with a zip-out, full-sleeve liner that provides both warmth and waterproofing.
In this latest installment, the internal liner can be worn on its own as a passable destination layer. It’s (almost!) 100% functional as a casual piece, less two small vestigial zippers on the front of the jacket. Totally legit for campsite use, or on its own, among friends, who will only mildly rib you for two random chest zippers.
But the real benefit of the Tornado is its wide gauge mesh outer panels. Take that inner liner away and this thing breathes like a screen door. All Summer Long, this is a go-to city or trail jacket.
The high-abrasion areas of the jacket—shoulders, back, elbows, are make from a reinforced “Power Shell” 750D Cordura-type material.
Shoulder and elbow armor are the no-joke, either, with cupped/contoured and ergonomically correct REVIT Seeflex CE Level 2 armor, standard. Like all REVIT jackets, the REVIT Seesoft RV back protector is an add-on purchase.
This size-specific Level 2 back protector should be factored into the fit. Small and Medium take size 04; Large and 2X-Large takes size 05, and 3XL takes 06.
