NOTE: This is an updated version of the original Swamp Rain Jacket, which honestly we had very few qualms with.
What's been updated? Most notable is the stow-able hood, which deploys when needed, and tucks cleverly into the collar when not needed.
The new edition also adds much-appreciated reflective panels at the shoulders -- a critical safety aspect that makes this new version worth the extra coin.
In a not to off-the-bike wearability, the cuff design has been altered just slightly, retaining its elastic hem at the back of the arm, but eliminating it at the front, so as to give the jacket a more casual appearance when worn off the bike.
The final upgrade is in the membrane that's grafted to the strech-shell material. This part is impossible to perceive with the naked eye, but according to North of Berlin's material test reports, the new membrane improves both the waterproofing and breathability over the original.
To note: we tested the original version of the Swamp rain gear locally, on rainy commutes, and on the west coast, on a week-long roadtrip that delivered 3 days of rain, and it is hands-down the best rain gear we've tried to date. Not once did we get wet, and while it's hard to gauge breathability, the gear never felt overly clammy. And the best part about it is the stretch—easy to fit over already-bulky armored gear, and both the Swamp jacket and pants move with the rider easily, providing unrestricted movement.
We were very happy with the Legacy Edition of the Swamp gear, and improvements only sweeten the pot. Throw in the draw-sting carry bag, and the best just got better.
This jacket is simple and effective. It’s made from a stretch waterproof fabric with fully taped-seam construction, delivering a fully waterproof and breathable fit.
Featuring a waterproof YKK Zipper backed by a storm flap with rain gutter, this jacket zips up to hermetically seal the wearer from incoming water.
It has one exterior pocket, positioned on the left arm, to stow your motorcycle key and some cash or a credit card.
Match this jacket with the Swamp Rain Pants to stay fully protected from any monsoon.
