The upside of the Override is that you not only get a smart layering piece for your motorcycle, or other winter snow sports. Plus, besides a great technical layering piece, you also get a clean and classic utility layer that can be worn off the bike. Wear a shell over it for true waterproofing, but the 20D Ripstop chassis comes with a durable waterproof repellent finish and will do just fine shoveling snow or weathering a winter walk.
The only downside of this or any other fully lofted puffer jacket is that it can make for a tight squeeze into a rightly tight-fitting motorcycle jacket.
For a more surgical approach, albeit one with less overall thermal value than this “full proof” puffer, check out its cousin, the Klim Override Alloy, which uses a hybrid construction of the same lofted front, but employs a stretch grid fleece under the arms and across the back
We debated whether to carry both the hybrid version and this fully lofted puffer version of what is essentially the same jacket, but the Override Alloy works so well for spring and fall, and this standard (although slightly more expensive) Override jacket is the clear choice for extreme cold conditions, or off the bike winter use, that we couldn’t help it. But both, and be ready for anything.
*Pair either Override jacket option with the Klim Override Alloy Pants for a complete cold-weather riding layer package.· 20d ripstop nylon shell fabric in front and arms
· DWR (durable waterproof repellent) treatment for shedding rain
· Breathable moisture wicking lining
· Ideal for layering under Gore-Tex shell
· 3M Scotchlite c790 carbon black reflective
· Two zip hand pockets
· Inner zipper storm flap
· Low profile stretch bottom hem
· Zipper garage for next-to-skin comfort
· YKKzippers
· Ultimately warmer than the hybrid Klim Override Alloy
