Now in its fourth generation, the redesigned-for-2026 Kodiak is an absolute battleship, with leather reinforcements the shoulders and elbows, adjustable level 2 limb armor, a full Gore-Tex shell to keep water out and regulate internal moisture, and no fewer than TEN zippered vents to circulate air.

This jacket is built to go distance, in any kind of weather. It's heavy-duty, and physically heavy—but not as unwieldy as one might expect from a jacket that's so capable. 

This new version gets big change in impact protection with KLIM’s new house-brand Rogue EXP Level 2 at the shoulders, elbows, and back.

Unlike previous version of this jacket, there's no thermal liner—and that's a good thing. It brought the price down (the 3rd gen Kodiak was $1,500 in toady's dollars), and riders by and large already have their own layers. The duck-down 3rd gen Kodiak thermal liner was super warm, but it was kind of a forced sale.

This jacket still does come with a few extras that many folks may never use -- like a removable neck collar, for Siberian expeditions; and a removable elastic kidney belt, which does help keep the jacket in place, and the back protector where it's supposed to be, but it's also a bit extraneous, and could imping on venting, so we expect most riders will leave it in a drawer at home.

Still, this jacket is an weapon, and just begs to be wielded on a big adventure. Short of maybe a tornado, it's legitimately ready for any kind of weather, rain or shine. And it's really worth trying on if you get a chance.
