The Carlsbad line is the boxier, burlier brother to the more refined and fitted Latitude jacket, which KLIM positions more as a street/touring outlook, versus this bruiser, which comes with beefier level 2, and double-Cordura overlays at the elbows and shoulders, in lieu of the leather trim the Latitude gets.
Like all our current KLIM Gore-Tex Laminate jackets, the Carlsbad follows a familiar playbook, with a Gore-Tex laminate shell, a half dozen mesh-backed vents—two at the forearms, two at the pits, and two exhaust vents.
Counting the Satellite device chest pocket, and the stat card left-wriest pocket (found on all HD Gore-Tex Klim jackets) and the Carlsbad totals no fewer than 14 different pockts.
We could have handled one fewer pocket in trade for a side strap to help rein in this boxy boi, similar to what the Latitude has. But if you want that, and a lighter weight jacket that's still CE AA rated, with a few extra bells and whistles to boot, then take a look at the Latitude, for $50 more; or the apex predator of our jacket catalog, the Kodiak, at a cool $400 mas.
KLIM’s new Rogue Level 2 armor yields a lighter-weight, and apparently more breathabnle alternative to D3O, which KLIM jackets used for years.
