The Maverick Jacket is made of the same AAA-Rated XTM fabric as John Doe’s Popular Motoshirt lineup for men and women. Unlike those "shackets" there's not built-in venting with this model, but in the exchange this becomes a true classic denim jacket style for shoulder season riding. Size up and rock a thin hoody underneath it.
This denim jacket iteration is made from a slightly thicker, yet still surprisingly soft denim shell with integrated XTM fiber—an abrasion resistant medley of Kevlar and Cordura that earns it the AAA rating.
The Maverick requires very little break-in, except for the shank-style buttons, which start off stiff but will become easier to fasten over time.
Other nice touches: small snaps underneath the collar, to keep it from flapping in the wind; and a stepped main zipper, that, with the lowest button undone, allows for a comfortable splay while riding a bike with an upright riding position.
The jacket comes loaded with CE Level 1 XTM Armor at the shoulders and elbows—which is uber thin and barely noticeable when installed.
The back protector is not included, but highly recommended, and easily adjustable thanks to John Doe’s positioning system. The rectangular, John-Doe-specific back protector is available in Level 1 or Level 2, and sold separately.
