The shell of these boots looks like leather but is actually a high-tenacity "Micro-Synth" material, which Falco says is lighter, more water- and wear-resistant, and won't require upkeep like traditional leather will.
That topical DWR waterproofing is backed up by Falco's house brand "High-Tex" waterproof/breathable membrane, which makes this a year-round boot.
