2019 GBGR - Video and Photo Wrap-Up
The 2019 Union Garage "Great Big Glamping Ride" was bigger, farther-out, and glampier than ever before.
Last time we headed to the Catskills. This year we went a full day's ride 300 miles west of New York, where we took over a private 20-acre facility outside of State College, PA.
The theme for the ride out: "Interstate 80 is Lava!" Despite the best efforts of Google Maps to shunt us onto the freeway, we stuck to back-roads almost the entire way. After a few 40-person U-turns in New Jersey we were treated to a relaxing series of farm-flanked country roads through this hills of Pennsylvania. Including a few unexpected dirt sections that everyone handled like champs. The video above was crowd-sourced from footage of riders who came along, and edited together by our own James Chupka.

We upped the mileage, and also the level of Glamping. Besides a plenty of tent sites, we also had a huge bunkhouse and slew of private cabanas at our disposal—each cozily equipped with a queen bed and pullout futon. And another glamptastic touch—hot showers for all. Serene creekside moto- camping at Godspeed Hostel. Photo: Jay Meany.
The Godspeed Hostel in Port Matilda, PA, proved to be the perfect venue. Well worth the all-day haul to get there. If there's one takeaway it's that next year we'll definitely make this a 3-day/2-night event. Frosty morning at the Godspeed Hostel. Happy campers in those heated private cabanas. With 20 acres of camping space and beds for 50 people, we're looking forward to coming back to PA next year. This place has Woodstock potential. Field of Dreams. Photo: Jay Meany.
