Introducing the Union Garage GBGR
- Two Days, Three Meals, 400 Miles -
Join us for a late-September motorcycle ride through the Catskills.
#1 Overnight Option - $65 ($40 Donation + $25 for camping/dinner; Sunday breakfast and lunch included) Ride up to the Catskills Saturday afternoon and camp out overnight with us. Or stay in a local B&B (details below - rooms going fast!). Wherever you sleep, before turning in you'll be treated to campsite feast prepared by resident Chef Ken Aldin, whose cooking many of you already have enjoyed at one our events over the years. This 8-acre, 2-barn campground is actually Chef Aldin's home, and he's opening up his backyard meadow for this event. Or at least to the first 25 peoiple to register for this first portion of the event. Beer and bourbon will be provided. Sleep it off a little the next morning then rally for a late breakfast at 9:30 the next day before we start the Great Big Ride.
#2 Day Trip Option - $40 Donation (Sunday breakfast and lunch included) Don't want to sleep in the Catskills? Don't worry, just come up for the day and join us for the 9:30 breakfast at a local Catskills bakery, where we'll have a full breakfast spread, and of course coffee. Lots of coffee. Following fueling, we'll follow a pre-planned route to get us through some of the area's best roads. The goal is to get across the Catskills and back in time for a late lunch. After which we say our goodbyes and all get home safe before dark.
*Both ticket types include both Breakfast and Lunch on Sunday, 9/24, courtesy Union Garage & Belstaff.
About the Cost Why are we charging for this at all? Because we're hosting the event on the same weekend as the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride (AKA the DGR) and we don't want the bad kamra of sapping participation from a worthy charity event.
Benefit: $80 per person goes to fight cancer. Thanks to the generous sponsorship from Belstaff, every $40 registration fee will be matched 100%. So the basic $40 donation will become an $80 donation. All funds will be donated in one lump sum to the American Cancer Society in the name of Don DeVito.
Who is Don DeVito? Stay with us here... Don was an outsized personality with a storied career as an A&R executive with Columbia Records. Artists he worked with include Bob Dylan, Billy Joel, Aerosmith and Bruce Springsteen. More importantly, he was a loving husband, father and a friend to many. And he was the brother-in-law of our good friend Steve Kuperschmid. DeVito died in 2011 following a long battle with prostate cancer. Last year we produced a short documentary with filmaker Jason Harper that featured Steve's motivation behind joining the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride.
Who's going? Whether it's 10ppl or we hit the cap of 50 (25 max for camping, another 25 slots for day-trippers), it's going to be a good time. Unless it's a 100% chance of rain, in which case we'll be rescheduling.
