While this “street” series has traditionally hewed towards a classic Chuck Taylor styling approach, the new Street 3 take a page directly from the Vans skate shoe playbook.
Like its predecessors, the Street 3 offers a hybrid blend of comfort, protection, and everyday wearability.
Do they provide the same protection as a track boot, and an adventure option? Hell no they do not. But where they scrimp on overt protection they make up in all-day comfort.
And they do boast some protective safety features. As a CE certified boot they have to pass a certain battery of side crush and sole-adhesion tests. Their ankle armor also has to pass certain impact requirements, and with upgraded D3O TCX manages this without adding any bulk.
This third generation moto street shoe honestly offers slightly less protection that its predecessors, but in the exchange it’s so much more comfortable you’ll be less inclined to skip moto shoes altogether, and wear these instead.
Major upgrades over older shoes — besides the D3O ankle armor— include a much grippier tread, and a new “ZPLATE” feature, by which TCX says delivers both transverse rigidity as well as all-day walking comfort.
The waterproof "WP" versions receive TCX's proprietary T-Dry membrane that is both waterproof and breathable. The leather upper is finished differently according to colorway, and the rubber outsole is either weathered gray or gum rubber.
All Street 3 Shoes meet CE 13634:2017 safety certifications.
Bullet Points:
- Suede leather upper
- Nubuck finishing (black version)
- T-Dry waterproof membrane
- Reinforced midsole with ZPLATE shank to balance flexibility with transverse rigidity
- Reinforcements on malleolus with D3O inserts
- Reinforcements at toe and heel
- Lace closure with elastic band to store the laces
- OrthoLite footbed with long term cushioning and high levels of breathability
- Oil-resistant Groundtrax rubber outsole
- CE 13634:2017 certification
