Shop Ride: Airhead Fall Blast This Saturday 10/17

Shop Ride: Airhead Fall Blast This Saturday 10/17

Our retail showroom is closed weekends for the season, but we’ll be opening the doors by 9:30 this Saturday to provide coffee and a meetup point for our 2nd annual Airhead Ride. Plan is to leave the shop by 11AM, and head to Bear Mountain, about 1.5hrs away, where we'll regroup at a lookout on Rt 6.

What’s an Airhead ride?

Technically we’re talking here about BMW air-cooled twins produced between 1970 and 1995.
Like these.

But we’re also including any other older air cooled bikes, and know of at least one old Guzzi owner planning to join.

And because rules are meant to be broken, if you've got a modern bike, but are curious about these older machines, feel free to join.

All customers are welcome.

Just be cool, okay?

See here for coverage of last year’s event.

When/Where?

The plan is to leave Bridgeport by 11AM, taking a winding route to the old stomping grounds at Bear Mountain.

Specifically, we’re aiming to regroup at the scenic pull-off on the east side of the Hudson, overlooking Bear Mountain.

It's labeled on Google Maps as “Scenic Overlook Pointe - Camp Smith” just south of the Bear Mountain Bridge on Rt 6/202.

With a bunch of old bikes it’s hard to predict exactly how the day will unfold, but we aim to reach the overlook meetup point no later than 1pm.

As with previous Poke the Bear rides, this is a one-way affair.

After we regroup to take in the view, warm up, and pop a few photos, the rest of the day is up to you.

Options range from crossing the river to dive into Harriman State State Park, and partake in some choice twisty roads; to finding a local spot to for a hot lunch and a cold drink.

It is forecast to be clear but chilly, so dress appropriately.

Need gear before the ride? We ship 5 days/week, and our “free shipping” usually means next-day delivery for those in the tri-state area.

We're also here by appointment Tues/Weds, and the showroom is open for walk-ins 11-5, Thursday & Friday.
