Their handmade leather Rascal riding pants, for example. Plus some Alpinestars collaborations worth keeping an eye out for.
Much of the company’s growing product catalog is focused more on lifestyle items—fashion-forward t-shirts and bespoke silk scarves that are too rich for our blood. But we couldn’t say no to the chance to add this beautifully crafted leather jacket to our collection.
Knowing what it takes to produce a leather jacket to exacting specifications—our own V7 jacket gets its name from the fact it took seven iterations to get right—we appreciate the fact El Solitario took two years two dial in its own perfect black leather jacket. The end result speaks for itself. Check out the details in the photos of a clean, straightforward cafe style jacket without a lot of extra adornments. And for as cool as El Solitario's wolf logo is, they thankfully passed on plastering it on the sleeve. Instead all the branding is on the inside where it belongs.
Gusseted sleeve zippers are positioned on the outside of the forearm, as to keep the zipper heads away from precious painted surfaces, and a single snap collar keeps the wind out. The Kraken has zippered hand-warmer pockets on the outside; a single inside pocket secured by a snap.
A storm flap behind the main zipper helps keep wind out. And the fixed quilted lining makes this a perfect fall or springtime companion. It’s one of the only un-armored jackets in our store – but it’s so good looking and so well made we’re loosening up our regular Captain Safety scrutiny enough to give it a pass. To beef it up a bit, consider an armored Kevlar Compression Shirt from Icon. It's a slim cut so you can't fit much else inside.
Named after a fearsome sea monster, the devil with this jacket is truly in the details. These jackets are made one at a time in a small shop in Portugal, each finely wrought with simple detailing. The veg-tanned top-grain vegetable tanned cowhide promises to break in beautifully over the years, and the trim cut will make you look like a hero on or off the bike.
This is a limited production piece. If you're interested in an at-home try on, order one up. Or come down to the store while supplies last.
*Fit note: this jacket is made in Europe, and cut like it. If you’re at all between sizes, go up one.
