Spidi J-Tracker Pants

Much like their sibling in the Spidi product line, the Pathfinder Cargo pants, the main reason these pants are so lightweight and easy to wear is that they’re single-layer—no insulating Kevlar diaper to speak of.

It’s important to note that while these pants get our full endorsement for casual city riding in a place like New York (*which has a nominal 25mph speed limit in-town), the Pathfinders do have limitations.

Namely, they come with a CE “A” rating—part of the latest European rating system by which A will passably withstand a real-world slide on asphalt up to 30mph; AA is good for 45; and AAA is good for 70.

So, local commuting and moderately paced riding? Sure. All day long. But if you’ve got a highway commute, know what you’re working with. And/or consider upgrading to something like the excellent Spidi Dyneema jean, or the heavier Knox Richmond MKII – both of which are AA rated.

That disclaimer aside, we’ll also point out that the J Tracker jeans are lighter weight and easier to wear on a hot summer day (if the slim-cut Italian design agrees with your genetics) than almost any other motorcycle pant we’ve carried. Following the “horses for courses” maxim, these pants are an excellent choice for in-town New York riding. And that A rating, with armor, is 1000% better than riding in casual/fashion jeans.

The excellent Warrior Lite Knee armor comes included, and is easy to access via a hidden zipper on the outside of the wearer’s knee, hidden in the side seam. Once installed, the knee armor can be adjusted vertically thanks to a Velcro carrier to locate it in just the right spot.

Knee armor comes included with the very fair purchase price, but the hip armor is an easy $25 upgrade away. The Warrior Lite Hip armor is a highly suggested add-on.

*Fit note: these jeans come with a 34” inseam. They’re intentionally cut long to accommodate a bent knee while in the riding position, but they’re easy to hem to length, too. And with the adjustable armor, equally easy to dial in the position of the knee protectors.

Features:

  • Slim fit
  • Cordura / cotton
  • Loop for jacket-to-jeans clip
  • Elasticized fabric
  • Adjustable Warrior Lite knee armor included
  • Pocket for optional hip protection (sold separately)
  • 34" inseam
  • Meets Class A (UE) 2016/454 Regulation for protective riding gear
