Rokker Rider Jean

Specifically, the Rokker Riding Jeans are comprised of a 13.5oz material that’s made up of a blend of 90/10 cotton denim and “Polyarylate,” which the company says it equivalent to a Dyneema, Armalith, or other comparable brand-name renditions of “UHMWPE”—or ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene.

But you don’t need an advanced degree in chemistry or physics to enjoy wearing these jeans. They’ve got a smart cut similar to a Levi’s 513—a nice, even balance between Williamsburg Skinny and Midwest Dad. They’ve got a bit of stretch to keep things comfy on the bike, or off. And unlike some of the Italian cut jeans we’ve seen, these have a slightly higher rise, which is nice for keeping American butt cracks in check.

The Rokker Rider jeans don’t come with armor, but we carry the D3O Knee protectors and the D3O hip pads that they’re designed to accommodate. Armor is easy to slip in, and while not adjustable per se, Rokker seems to have gotten the armor pocket positioning right, and the pocket is smooth enough inside that we’ve found the knee armor self-locates into place nicely once your leg is hiked up into riding position.

Rokker claims the material in this jean is equivalent to the CE “AA” rated options it sells in Europe. In layman’s terms, that means that the material this will withstand a 45mph slide to a stop without yielding a hole bigger than 5mm. The test also takes into consideration seam strength.

Results will vary, as every motorcycle crash is different, but this rating is on par with the higher tier options we’ve found, like our staff-pick Spidi Dyneema jeans, which themselves carry an official AA rating.

*Note, this test is just a benchmark. It does not mean the jeans won’t withstand a higher-speed get-off faster than 45mph; and doesn’t mean that for any crash you’ll slide on the same spot. Or maybe you will. Welcome to the blender of physics that crashing a motorcycle presents.

Short story – with the armor in place, these jeans offer about as much protection as any other leading motorcycle jean.

By comparison to the Spidi Dyneema jeans, these offer a more traditional denim jean approach— indigo-dyed cotton with gold contrasting thread.

Features:

  • Single layer riding jeans for unbeatable comfort
  • Fits like a Levi's 513
  • Constructed using a 13.5oz denim blended with polyarylate fibers
  • Pockets for optional hip and knee protectors (armor sold separately)
  • Authentic jeans look with indigo-dyed cotton
  • No rivets to scratch a bike's finish
