The Stratos GTX is constructed with a medley of materials—drum-dyed goatskin, 300D Cordura, and “Powershield”—REVIT’s in-house aramid abrasion resistant fabric. Plus, this glove comes with REVIT’s best knuckle armor to date—a Seesoft-brand progressive foam that’s soft and flexible.
Like the Summit and other models Stratos uses REVIT’s single-motion gauntlet closures, by which opening and extending the Velcro cuff of the gauntlet levers a thin nylon strap, which tightens the closure. To make slack in the cuff simply lever the closure tab in the other direction.
The feature takes a little getting used to and can feel like a Chinese finger trap for the uninitiated, but once mastered it makes it quick and easy put on the gloves and dial in the fit.
Unlike the Summit 2 summer gauntlet, the Stratos is insulated—with Thinsulate as well as with a tri-fleece liner. And for all that warmth they don’t sacrifice too much in the dexterity department.
While the Summit summer gloves use an off-brand Hydratex waterproof membrane, the Stratos GTX get full-on bona fide Gore-Tex waterproofing.
