RokkerTech Women’s Jeans combine denim geek style and excellent build quality with a space-age fabric that’ll save your ass in a slide. They have pockets for optional D3O armor, and for all their tech, they look as close to normal jeans as we’ve ever seen.
These women’s jeans sport a high-rise for full coverage, a zipper fly and a straight-fit cut (slim leg, tapered fit).
Instead of using a secondary abrasion-resistant liner like Kevlar, or Schoeller Dynatec (used in Rokker’s other models), Rokkertech jeans are much lighter to wear, and much easier to wear all day long on or off the bike thanks to their single-layer construction. Also because of the cotton incorporated into their construction, they feel, breath, wick and wear much like normal jeans. But there’s very little sacrifice in abrasion resistance compared to multi-layer options.
The simple secret of the Rokkertech line’s abrasion resistance lies with its use of ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethene (UHMWPE). This material is made of fibers 15x stronger than steel, and it’s used in both the weft and the warp of the fabric. The trick is how this particular material uses a dyed cotton wrap around these core fibers in the warp—the vertical lattice—of the textile. UHMWPE fibers are incorporated into the weft (horizontal lattice) of the fabric as well, where they're combined with a high-tech Lycra for a small, very much appreciated degree of stretch. The result is a material that wears just like cotton against your skin. It looks normal, it feels normal, but it’ll take a slide better than some leathers.
Dyneema-based jeans—another UHMWPE-based textile—by comparison feel plastic-like, and have a shimmery look to them. Rokkertech jeans feel and wear like normal jeans—except you'll pretty much never wear a hole in the crotch or the knees through regular use.
