Ok, so Stumptown didn't actually make us our own blend. But we’ve imbibed so much of the company’s original Hair Bender blend we feel it's practically our own.
Stumptown’s New York roasting and production facility is located less than a mile away from Union Garage, right down the block on Van Brunt Street in Redhook, and we’ve been serving its coffee in the store since 2013.
And so when illustrator Neal Rohrer (credited with our Vincent and Ducati t-shirts) came up with this four-valve Desmodronic doodle, based on the Testastretta 4-valve head that debued on the Ducati 998, it reminded us of the powerful shots that come out of our clamorous commercial-grade espresso machine, and the sounds it makes clanging off the walls of our cavernous brick space, which immediately pauses all conversation until its done. The doodle wasn't big enough for a shirt but is perfect to stamp on our paper to-go coffee cups, and now on these 12-oz bags of Hair Bender.
If you’ve ever had a coffee at the store, you’ve already had this blend. And if you liked it, we’re making it easy to brew at home. It works wonderfully in an espresso machine but is good for any kind of preparation. Grab a bag along with a Union Garage diner mug and support for your independent motorcycle gear outfitter.
And if you haven’t had a shot or amateur latte at the store, the coffee is always free and we haven’t shut the machine off in over a year—what are you waiting for?
