The slim-fitting Aether Ramble pant is constructed of a 3-layer Schoeller fabric that is thinner, lighter, and more flexible than traditional textile moto pants.
It might feel like a yoga pant (or what we imagine that might feel like), but it comes fully loaded with D3O armor. Depending on your office protocol/lack thereof, this pant can be confidently worn both on the commute and into the workplace.
The material is hightly water and stain resistant, and it comes in graphite gray or black. It has discreet zippers on all its pockets to keep your coins, keys, phone and wallet in place.
It comes with armor pockets at the hips and knees, and comes with easily removable CE Level 1 D30 hip protectors, and Level 2 D3O knee armor—the latter of which features an easy-to-use height adjustment feature.
We initially shied away from stocking this pant because of its unkown bonafides in the abrasion-resistance department. But we capitulated when we saw it in the wild. Beacuse this one of the better looking moto pans available.
We always like to break down thinking about protective gear into two basic physics concepts: impact, and, distinctly separate, abrasion. For the impact that’ll come with going down at any speed—This pant’s D3O armor spec has you well covered. For abrasion, this Schoeller material is tough and rugged, it’s just not rated for serious high-speed abrasion considerations needed for a full-fledged motorcycle safety gear rating.
What it isn’t: The Ramble isn't something we’d recommend crashing in at highway speeds. Ever hear of “Horses for courses?” This particular breed of hybrid moto pant isn’t for the racetrack.
What it is: an uber comfortable armored motorcycle pant that’s an excellent choice for all-day use in the city or around town. It’s also a great option for going off-road. It’ll breathe, clean up well, it won’t encumber movement, and although it’s cut slim it’ll fit over almost any boot.
*Fits true to size. Material properties make the Ramble generously comfortable. Inseam is 34.
