The name “Ramone” suggests a punk rock connection, but this is the most country jacket we have.
Inspired by the western style jean jacket (see: corduroy collar) and blue collar work jackets, with its 18oz cotton duck spec, the Ramone looks ready for a rodeo, followed by a Budweiser. But it has a few fit and finish details that set it apart from your average Levis. Armor pockets, for one, but thoughtful fit features abound: like a gusseted back, zippered pockets and front closure, and pre-curved and rotated sleeves cut slightly long to accommodate a standard riding posture.
It's similar to RSD’s Bronson jeans jacket, which has a similar cut but is made from 10.5oz denim with a leather collar. And similar to our standard disclaimer about any cotton-based shell, just keep in mind that armor will aid in the first part of a crash, and from there how fast you’re going is going to dictate how much abrasion resistance you’ll need. Rock beats scissors, and leather beats cotton. That said, this makes a fantastic around-town jacket that won’t give off the goon vibes that some more serious motorcycle jackets tend to emit.
Like all Roland Sands Design jackets this one comes sans armor, but with pockets to fit the optional (and highly recommended) RSD 5-piece armor kit.
