The Motion DS is a short-styled commuting jacket that makes an ideal urban option for multiple seasons. With the full-sleeve thermal liner (and separate thermal collar liner) removed, the mesh backing of the jacket means it will wick moisture and won’t be clammy to wear in warm weather. Waterproof zippers under the armpits open up to facilitate ventilation, and always-open passive back vents give that influx of air a way to escape.
Is this a 100MPH highway jacket? Of course it’s not. It’s actually relatively skimpy on the abrasion-resistance scale. But it comes with full-spec CE armor at the elbows and shoulders, plus it has a pocket for a back protector. Where this jacket shines is for its ability to be work on or off the bike, and in a variety of weather conditions—from warm to wet-and-cold.
Remarkably restrained branding on the part of Alpinestars (just a half-inch tall embroidered woven label on one arm) make this a truly versatile piece.
Added touches like subtle reflective strips and a waterproof wallet pocket at the chest round out what is one of our new favorite city jackets.
