The new-for-2014 Qualifier takes up the position at the entry-level end of Bell’s lineup, although there really isn’t very much entry level about this helmet.
The outgoing entry level model on the other hand—the Arrow—looked the part. It was dumpy, cue ball round back, and two simple, chunky vents.
The Qualifier however doesn’t suffer for features or styling. It picks up some subtle spoiler rear vents, to top vents, and a more comfortable, redesigned intermediate oval head shape to boot. And best of all it now uses the same shield system used in all the other Bell full face helmets, all the way up to the $650 Star Carbon. And that means this helmet can easily be outfitted with a photochromic Transitions shield—one of the best upgrades available.
The main thing lacking between this and the $180 Vortex is the SNELL safety rating and the interior, which comes with a chin curtain and is overall a little nicer.
