The new limited-edition Mohawk boots from REV’IT! pack loads of modern protective features into a classic package clad in gloriously thick double- and triple-stitched leather.
While the Mohawk boots look like a blatankt ripoff of Redwing’s classic 877, that's becasue they are—and they aren't. For more on the difference between the boots that appeared on a 1971 cover of Sports Illustrated, plus a bonus $0.02 on the ghose of Steve McQueen, check out the full journal post intorducing the new boot.
What makes this product unique is that REV’IT! has endowed the Mohawk with some actual motorcycle-specific features—such as substantial inner and outer ankle armor, reinforced thermoplastic heel and toe cups, and a plush mesh lining that will help keep the wearer's foot relatively airy even on swampy summer days. Because this boot passes specfiic crush, abrasion and construction parameters, the Mohawk even gets a CE-Certification.
While it's not fully waterproof, that aspect is in-line with the Mohawk's intednded use: it’s an urban boot equipped with outsized protective features. If you’re going interstate touring and want total protection from the possibility of rain, get a GoreTex option like the ultimate touring boot—the Sidi OnRoad.
But for a quality leather boot that combines everyday wearability with discreet protective features, look no further than the new Mohawk. Even the thick waxed laces are well-made, addressing one of our few qualms with the Stylmartin Indian Boots.
In our opinion this is one of the best combinations of real features and everyday wearability we've seen. And the Mohawk Boot is available in limited quantities, so don’t miss out.
