The Valparaiso Tech-Air jacket is a three-layer, four-season, go-anywhere jacket. And because it comes fully wired for a Tech-Air Street airbag vest, it can be easily upgraded to make it pretty much the safest street/touring jacket ever offered to the motorcycle riding public. Ever.
The jacket is ready for cooler-weather riding with its waterproofing and thermal liners, yet it'll still handle hot days with its numerous deployable vents.
Some of the price of this jacket goes towards its integrated wiring harness and built-in LED display for the Tech-Air Street airbag vest. The jacket is endowed with subtle elastic-rib paneling at the back to accommodate the significant marshmellow-ing that happens when the airbag is deployed underneath, but otherwise it hides its superpower (airbag capability) quite well.
The Valpariso is cut from high denier Cordura with leather paneling at the shoulders and elbows for added abrasion resistance. The outside of the shell is highly water resistant, with waterproof zippers throughout its various pockets and vent panels. The real wind- and water-proof functionality comes from the Drystar full-sleeve liner zipped into the shell. During a monsoon, the shell will let some water in. but the Drystar liner will stop it from going any further. The Valparaiso also comes with a secondary liner that's also-full-sleeve, and quilted for insulation. This like the Drystar layer can be taken in and out of the jacket independently.
For warm-weather riding, roll and stow the jacket’s interior panels in the rabbit-pocket pouch at the back of the jacket, and roll the windows down to get some air going through it. The jacket has 4 intake vents and a best-in-class exhaust vent at the back. Up front, two zippered chest panels—AKA “Tit Zips”—drop down to let air flow through. Also both sleeves are equipped with two-way zippers, which can be opened up as far as 14 inches to let air get into the jacket.
And finally, the entire back panel cleverly drops down to reveal a massive lofted mesh vent, which provides active exhaust for the front-facing vents.
Compression straps at the biceps and a half-belt at the waist help keep the fit snug and free from flapping in the wind regardless of how many layers are or are not installed.
Throw in a bevy of smart inner pockets, the requisite CE shoulder and elbow armor, some reflective 3M accents, and the Valpariso Tech-Air leaves little to want for. It's ready for any weather you can throw out of it and we can say, without hyperbole, that it's protective credentials are nothing short of the absolute best available on the market today.
