It took a little while to track everyone down—our grand prize winner thought we were joking and erased our first emil. And then it took a little longer than we’d have liked to formally announce winners because we’ve been neck-deep in getting our new store prepared for a grand opening next month. But without further ado here are our winners.
Grand Prize: Union Garage x Vanson Robinson Jacket Niall Davidson, Brisbane, Australia
We were happy to see Niall take home the Robinson jacket. Niall’s been riding his whole life and although he no longer has his favorite all-time bike, a Ducati 350 Scrambler (“Alas I don’t have the Desmo but I swear I can hear it and feel it still – that Dunstall megaphone was just the greatest!”) Niall still rides more than most from the sound of it. He currently has two bikes. First is the 2004 Yamaha FJR1300as, pictured above, which he pulls out for his annual 2,400-mile annual roundtrip to Queensland for the Phillip Island for motoGP. For shorter trips around town he’s got a 2001 Aprilia Pegaso 650 IE. More appropriate Robinson wear than his 1400cc super-cruiser. Niall’s Robinson jacket was set to arrive just in time for his 65th birthday. Sorry everyone else who didn’t win but don’t begrudge the birthday boy! And special thanks to Vanson Leathers in Fall River, MA, for comp’ing the jacket for this promotion.
Second Prize Bell Bullitt Helmet Erik Eagleman, Madison, Wisconsin
Erik is between bikes so we’re running had to run a mash-up of a family photo and his old ZX1000. He’s previously had a CB550 and is waiting on a new Ducati Scrambler. Given a choice between the Bullitt and the Shoei RF-1200, Erik picked the TT Bullitt. Also for what it’s worth, one of our contest survey questions gave the choice between the Shoei and the Bell (aka: apples or oranges) and 60% of respondents picked Shoei.
Third Prize: Union Garage Tool Roll Chris Capiral, Ronkonkoma, NY
Deaglan Campbell, Ballinacarrow, Ireland
Just to keep things exciting we decided to dish out two tool rolls instead of one. The first went to Chris from Long Island. Chris made it to our very first block party and crawfish boil and we expect to seem him at our grand re-opening later this spring. He owns a KZ750-Four he paid $400 for. He’s already done chopping it down and getting it into running condition but he ought to be able to make good use of the Tool Roll we sent him last month.
Our second tool roll winner should be able to make good use of the kit too. Deaglan from Ireland has a BMW R80 (above) that’s been liberated of its fairing and is looking like it just spent a long winter in a mossy barn. What better candidate for a reproduction BMW factory tool kit? Deaglan has been remodeling his house, which is why he took a few weeks to get back to us. Once it’s done, give that Airhead some love already huh?
Thanks to all who entered the contest. We never thought giving away nearly $2k in product could be so fun. We’ll definitely be doing more in the future. *NOTE: To all those who didn’t win, look for an email with a follow-up consolation offer.
