Following Aether’s successful event in Los Angeles last year, this NYC Adventure will offer up a full day of great roads mixed with some professional riding instruction and skills challenges. Riders will be well fed and caffeinated, too.
After an early meetup in NYC the ride will begin with a scenic, hopefully traffic-free escape from the boroughs followed by a rousing tour of Harriman State Park’s best roads (many of which were repaved just last season). We will regroup at Bear Mountain Peak 50 miles north of town before descending back down into the park where we’ve reserved a private training location for the afternoon.
After lunch and some decompression time we’ll start the skills training portion of the day with a quick introduction from Eric Trama or Trama’s Motorcycle School, the oldest MS-certified organization in the state. Following a course walk-though riders will have the chance to complete several different cone-course drills at their own pace, on their own bike, while getting valuable feedback from the certified coaches on hand.
And at the end the day we’ll open up a special skills challenge and a chance to score free gear and other prizes.
7:00 AM – Optional meet up at Union Garage for espresso and last minute gear.
8:00 AM – Event start. Breakfast at AETHERnyc on Crosby Street in SoHo. Riders will receive GPS tracks & turn sheets for the route, including the location of the secret training grounds.
8:30 AM – Riders begin to depart in waves. The route will send riders up the FDR, across the GW Bridge and up the Palisades Parkway towards Bear Mountain. Ride time is approximately 2.5 hours.
9:00-9:30 – Regroup at to-be-announced location on Palisades Parkway; rendezvous point for riders coming from outside NYC
12:00 PM – Riders arrive at secret training location. Lunch is served.
1:00 PM - Riders will receive technical training and riding tips from motorcycle safety instructor Eric Trama and his team, and put their skills to the test through skills drills and our obstacles course.
4:30 PM – Awards announced and distributed. Special gift giveaway.
